I had forgotten the hike that it was to get to this spot,

especially in midday summer heat!

Their girls did awesome,

New Outfit For Crew

So I first just wanted to make some nerdy cute shorts for Crew to wear to church.

I loved the way they turned out,

and decided he needed a tie to match.

So I appliqued a onsie with a cute little tie.

I thought just one more thing might finish the outfit.

I thought about shoes, but he usually kicks those off.

I'd wanted to try a little newsboy cap and knew this was the perfect material.

I love the way this outfit turned out.

The best part...

It was free!

I had several blank onsies still, and the fabric came from my scrap stash.

Bapron Fun

I found this cute tutorial for a bib or 'bapron' as she calls it here.

Once I tried it, I couldn't help but make more.

I mean, you can never have too many bibs with a new eater.

And they are so simple to make.

I just went through my scraps and here's what I came out with.

And in case you wanted to see one in action.

Tote Bag from Little Lizard King

I'm so excited!

One of my favorite blogs to follow,

(which has THE CUTEST PATTERNS!)

recently posted the need for some new testers.

I jumped at the chance.

I always enjoy free things, especially when it gives me another reason to sew!

This Tote Bag was super simple to make.

I think from beginning to end,

(meaning cutting out and sewing together)

it only took about twenty minutes.

And look how cute it is!

I think it's the perfect size for alot of things.

Pool Bag, church bag, whatever,

Love it!

Here it is with my 9yr old holding it so you can see the size.

I will definitely be making more of these!

Carseat Slipcover and Canopy

I while back an old friend found my blog and just recently commissioned me to make her some goodies for her new baby on the way.

She had seen my carseat recover but wanted something more simple.

She showed me some links to others she'd found that she licked the style.

So together we came up with this slipcover.

It is pretty simple.

One-sided, with a velcro flap in the center so no need to undo straps to get it in and out for washing.

This Chinese New Year is the year of the rabbit so she wanted a rabbit theme to her fabric.

She actually searched and found the fabric that she wanted.

Then I made her vision come to life!

Purses!

I have never thought about making a purse,

that is until I saw the cute one my sister made.

She had gotten the pattern from my Mom

so I got a copy of the pattern and got to work.

I made the pink and black one first,

Then Hayley went thru my scraps

and picked the turquoise and black out for her purse.

They are cute and functional,

with pockets along the entire inside.

LOVE IT!

I was able to take this handsome guys photos about a week ago.

He turned 8 and was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

He was a little nervous during the shoot, but did awesome and we caught some pretty cute photos.

Knotted Strap Jumper

I have wanted to make these dresses with the knotted straps for a while.

I just didn't want to pay the money for the pattern.

Well, I finally decided to give it a try, and I love how it turned out.

I loved it so much, in fact, that I decided to make a matching one for the doll.

And now I love it even more.

I will definately be making more of these, and they will be for sale in my etsy shop so keep a look out.

Pirate Hideout and Carseat Re-Do

Here's my latest projects.

First, Bode has his birthday last month and he's been having me make forts for a while.

So I came up with this solution.

It's made of flannel and has a velcro strip sewn along the top

and then I stapled the velcro to the underneath of the top bunk.

He loves it and it works well.

The gray sail has a window in it.

And when I found a font that uses skeletons to form the letters,

I knew it would be perfect for the pirate ship!

Next I decided to recover Crew's plain carseat.

It was in great shape I just wanted something more.

I love how it turned out.

It might be a slight on the feminine side but it'll have to do 'cause I'm not redoing it again!

I forget every time I do them how hard newborns are.

We had to stop a few times for baby to get a snack to calm him,

and this little guy likes to use the bathroom :)

He soiled everything! But we sure had fun!

A buddy of Brian's on the fire department had a little boy just a few days after we did.

I found a cute skirt tutorial here and had all the stuff to do it.

I had left over chiffon from Hannah's halloween costume,

and I used an old T shirt of mine to make the base.

It turned out pretty cute and the best part,

Hayley loves it! (that girl is hard to please)

This little girl is a lot like my Hayley.

Hayley had fun making these for her classmates

She just unwrapped and broke up our old crayons,

(most of which were already broken)

then melted them in the oven, and let cool!

Carseat Blankets

I made these carseat blankets for a friend and her new baby.

This one stays in the carseat and after you buckle baby,

you can wrap baby up.

This second blanket is more of a canopy

and matches the first.

You can open the buttons and peek at baby!

The beginning of re-purposing

I found a crafters blog who repurposed EVERYTHING!
It inspired me to go through my closet to find a project.
I found a black longsleeve t-shirt of mine that never fit me right...
And I made it into leggings for Hannah (then made a skirt to attach out of scraps)
And then I made the shirt and leggings for her American Girl (and attached a matching skirt)
I love it!

This is a one-hour baby blanket that actually only took half an hour to make. And most of that was clipping the edges so they would fray. It is super easy and perfect for those last minute baby shower notices.
